Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya rounded off a week-long series of events celebrating his 5th anniversary in office by hosting a state banquet on Wednesday.
The event took place at the Government House and was attended by dignitaries from both within the state and across Nigeria.
It featured colourful cultural performances from diverse groups, including the Fulani cultural dance staged by the Gombe cultural troupe, as well as dances from the famous Ngorda/Tera, Babunare/Bolawa, Bit-Bit/Tangale, and Laku/ Kaltungo, along with performances by indigenous Hausa political drummers abd singers, including Dan Musa Gombe/ Ko Gezau among others.
During the event, Governor Inuwa Yahaya, through the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, expressed profound gratitude to the people of Gombe state for their unwavering support and trust in his administration, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining the momentum of development and addressing the remaining challenges as pledged during his electioneering campaigns in 2019 and 2023, respectively.
He further called for continued unity and commitment from all stakeholders, emphasizing that the collaboration between government officials and community leaders, business figures, and citizens is crucial for the state’s ongoing progress and march towards achieving new heights of prosperity and growth.
In a brief remark, former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barr. Solomon Dalung, who travelled through the length and breadth of Gombe state to observe the developmental strides of Inuwa Yahaya, stated that from what he observed during his tour, the Governor has positively impacted the lives of the people and brought development to areas where hope for such progress had been lost.
He described the Governor’s steadfast commitment to advancing Gombe to greater heights as a true reflection of a leader whose vision is focused on the development and prosperity of his people, applauding him for the lasting legacy his administration has been creating across the critical sectors of growth and development.
Also speaking, former National Chairman of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) who is now a chieftain of the APC, Prof. Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali, encouraged Governor Inuwa Yahaya to continue his commendable efforts, which have been positively impacting the lives of the people of Gombe State over the past five years, stating that his dedication to implementing beneficial initiatives and driving progress has not gone unnoticed. He urged the Governor to maintain this momentum in fostering development and prosperity in Gombe state.
Earlier in a welcome remark, the Chief of Staff Government House, Abubakar Inuwa Kari stated that the State Banquet was organised to unwind after a week-long activities and to also show appreciation to guests and the entire people of Gombe State for their solidarity throughout the events lined up for the 5th anniversary celebration.
Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, former Deputy Governor, Hon Charles Iliya, Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, the Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Halima Mohammed, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Nitte Amangal, Head of Service, Alh. Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, Chief of Staff, Alh. Abubakar Inuwa Kari, former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barr. Solomon Dalung, Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR, members of the State House of Assembly and those of the Executive Council, Local Government Council Chairmen, chieftains of the APC, Dr. Jamilu Ishiyaku Gwamna and Hon.
