Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri on Sunday flagged-off the construction project of two flyovers in Bauchi state.
The Governor who described Bala Mohammed as the Sarkin Ayukan Arewa (The Working Governor of the North), congratulated the people of Bauchi state for the numerous projects executed in the state and those in the offing, including the overhead bridges.
Governor Fintiri noted that the true definition of leadership is not rooted in the quantum of resources at the disposal of a leader, but the vision and courage such a leader brings to the fore in the decision of how much resources are deployed and the craft of how projects are prioritized.
“In the design and prioritization of projects, only few leaders have the courage to rise above laziness and braze up to gigantic project like this, and even fewer ones have the commitment to complete such projects”, he said.
According to him, Bala Mohammed is among the few and fewer Leaders to have demonstrated good leadership style.
“About three years ago, we were all here in Bauchi to break the ground for the new government house for Bauchi state. Skeptics thought it was a white elephant job, but Senator Bala proved them wrong, today, it has become a real witness to the translation of vision into fruition”, the Adamawa Governor recalled.
He said that the developmental stride of the Governor is a reward for voting the right person as Governor for two terms, adding that, it is indeed a reward for voting the PDP.
Fintiri who observed that infrastructural deficits are outstanding parts of the challenges of urban centers, said, every visionary leader must put on his thinking cap and provide time tested solutions not only to the present but to the future generation.
He said that the overhead bridges which are call flyovers are not just symbols of municipal aesthetics but solution to vehicular traffic which eases movement.
According to him, having the overhead bridges in Bauchi is a good decision that will continue to define the vision of Senator Bala Mohammed in solving the problem of not only the present day Bauchi but Bauchi of tomorrow.
Earlier Speaking, Governor Bala Mohammed who said that the fly overs are going to be constructed along Wunti Market and Central Market areas in the metropolis.
According to him, the first of its kind in the state, the historic project is promised to alter not only the landscape of Bauchi but will radically redefine urban transportation to give the people of Bauchi and visitors a completely new experience.
“He said that the flyover project was informed by factors such as the rapid population growth in Bauchi and the encroachment of the state’s road corridors as well as effort to recover the city from the chaotic control and unplanned expansion.
He said that the flyovers would give Bauchi metropolis an outlook of modernity, transform it’s skyline and together with upgraded government house and other strategic developments, change the landscape of the state and make it Nigeria’s undisputed pearl of tourism.
Bala Mohammed further said the present government’s stride in developing the state is aimed at enhancing the GDP of the state and repositioning it for economic viability and growth. END
