A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was involved in an accident on Sunday in northwestern Iran.
The president was on a day trip to Azerbaijan to inaugurate a dam with the Azeri president and was returning home when the incident occurred. The helicopter also carried Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian.
This was reported by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency on social media platform X, as cited by CNN.
Reports indicate that some individuals on the helicopter managed to contact Central Headquarters, suggesting the possibility that the incident may not have resulted in any casualties.
At this time, the exact status of President Raisi’s helicopter remains unclear, according to CNN.
The helicopter was one of three in a convoy. The other two helicopters, which were transporting ministers and other officials, reached their destination safely, Tasnim reported.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and Seyyed Mohammad-Ali Al-Hashem, the Friday Prayer Imam of Tabriz, were reportedly on the helicopter with President Raisi
