Operatives of the Nigerian Army on patrol have rescued two kidnapped victims on Tuesday in plateau.
The victims identified as Abdul Bello and Mrs Sekyen Bello were being conveyed by kidnappers along the Jos-Abuja highway when troops intercepted them at Mararaba Jamaa community in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
It was learnt that the kidnappers, however, escaped into the bush leaving their victims behind.
The spokesman for the operation, Major Nantip Zakhom, confirmed the incident in Jos on Tuesday.
Zakhom said, “Troops deployed at Bisichi swiftly responded to a distress call regarding kidnapping activities. Upon arrival, they encountered a brown Peugeot vehicle.
“The troops conducted a thorough search operation in the surrounding bushes and successfully rescued the vehicle owner, Mr. Abdul Bello, and another lady identified as Miss Sekyen Melody Yapshak, who had been kidnapped from her parents’ residence around the Nigeria Police College.”
According to OPSH’s spokesperson, the rescued victims had been taken to the Police College Clinic, Jos, for a medical check-up, while the vehicle was secured at the troops’ location for further investigation.
He assured the residents of the operation’s commitment towards addressing the security challenge in the state pointing out that efforts were ongoing to arrest those behind the kidnap activities and other criminals.
