Ahead of 2027 elections, many Nigerians have lament over lack of trust in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct any credible election.
This comes after the just concluded presidential election in Ghana.
Many Nigerians have passed a vote of no confidence on INEC to emulate Ghana’s transparency.
They believed that INEC as it is today is incapable of conducting a seamless and credible election in Nigeria in 2027. They said that the electoral umpire has failed to improve on its performance in off-cycle elections that took place in Edo and Ondo and can therefore not be trusted to conduct a free and fair poll.
They called for urgent critical reforms that must be put in place before 2027 and suggested how to make INEC free from the control and influence of politicians.
See reactions below:
#Lisa Avares What ever lead to Nigeria dissolution hold INEC and judiciary responsible.
#Prince Hamza Abubakar The only solution is all Nigerians should come out nd protest against this inec chairman to stand him away once he is in power he will continue to support APC till eternity
#Micheal Onuoha And Inec learnt or gained nothing from the Ghana poll because they will still do it the usual way but is it Akpabio led senate that will improve electoral reform non have been able to explain how he became a senator after contesting election as a president in the primary in the same election cycle
#Gilberto Akpabio INec is the biggest problem, I mean they are our number one problem, they brought this hardship by rigging out the right person for the job
#Benard Abutu Is not that INEC Nigeria doesn’t know what to do in order to conduct a good election but men who put them in their respective positions determined what happened in the election
