Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has approved a series of strategic appointments aimed at enhancing the state’s development across various sectors.
The announcement, made on Thursday, December 19, 2024, introduces experienced professionals into key roles, underlining the administration’s commitment to competence and innovation.
Prof. Daniel Amine has been named the Director General of the Benue Geographical Information System (BENGIS). With a B.Tech, M.Eng, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Amine brings over two decades of expertise in technical and engineering graphics. A lecturer at Joseph Sawuan Takar University in Makurdi, he has also worked in the banking and construction industries.
Mrs. Afaityo Rebecca has been appointed as General Manager of the Community and Social Development Agency. Armed with an M.Sc. and an MBA in Management, she has a strong background in community development. Her previous roles include Village Extension Officer and Chairperson of the Initiatives for Empowerment of Vulnerable Persons in Society (IEVPS).
Mr. Michael Uper is the new Executive Secretary of the Benue State Sports Marketing and Lottery Board. Known for his expertise in sports marketing, Mr. Uper has consulted for Niger and Lagos States and previously worked with the Benue State Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Creativity.
Dr. Erdoo Mongol will serve as Managing Director/CEO of the Benue State Geo-Mining Company Nigeria Limited. A seasoned geoscientist with over 14 years of experience in mining, mineral exploration, and climate sciences, Dr. Mongol is dedicated to sustainable and innovative approaches in critical mineral extraction.
Surveyor Tsokar Terfa has been appointed Technical Advisor to the Governor on Land Matters. A seasoned lands administrator, he previously served as Surveyor General of Benue State from 2021 to 2023.
In a related development, Governor Alia has separated the Solid Minerals Department from the Ministry of Lands, Survey, and Solid Minerals, upgrading it to a Bureau for Solid Minerals. Mr. Stephen Utah, previously the Principal Special Assistant on Solid Minerals, has been appointed as the Bureau’s Executive Secretary.
