The Board of Directors of Nigerian Breweries Plc has announced the appointment of Juliet Anammah as its new chairman, effective January 1, 2025.
Anammah takes over from Sijbe Hiemstra, who has been serving as interim chairman since January 2024. The announcement was made following a board meeting held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, according to a statement released by the Company Secretary/Legal Director, Uaboi Agbebaku.
The updated composition of the board now includes Anammah as Chairman, alongside H. Essaadi (Managing Director/Chief Executive), A.O. Aroyewun, S. Hiemstra, S. Ojekwe-Onyejeli, I.M. Omoigui Okauru, J.A.A. Overmars, R. Pirmez, I.A. Puri, and B.A. Wessels Boer.
Before this appointment, Anammah served as Chairman of the Governance and Ethics Committee of Nigerian Breweries, bringing with her over 30 years of experience across various sectors, including consulting, consumer goods, sales, marketing, e-commerce, and sustainability.
She joined the Nigerian Breweries board in January 2022, after a distinguished career that included serving as Chief Group Sustainability Officer and Chairman of Jumia Nigeria. Prior to that, she was the Chief Executive Officer of Jumia Nigeria and Managing Director of Accenture LLC, where she led the firm’s consumer goods, retail, and transportation practice in West Africa.
Anammah’s contributions extend beyond Nigerian Breweries, as she has also served on the boards of prominent organizations, including Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc. Her expertise and leadership are expected to steer Nigerian Breweries toward continued growth and innovation in the coming years.
