A group of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osun Unity Forum, said it has started mobilising the youths to unseat governor Ademola Adeleke in 2026.
The group accused Adeleke of being nepotistic, saying his style of governance will prevent him from having support of people while seeking re-election.
The group alleged that the governor has concentrated on his hometown for development, noting that it had embarked on grassroots mobilisation of new voters, youths and students to support the APC ahead of 2026 guber election.
Addressing newsmen at the APC state secretariat, Osogbo, at the weekend, the Convener of the group, Barrister Bimbo Amusan, said, “All the development by the administration of Adeleke is concentrated In Ede, we will just wake up one day to realise that the state capital has been moved from Osogbo to Ede. All these will cause people to revolt against his government.
“Every four years, new people cross the voting age, we are going to focus on them for the support of our party. Donald Trump emerged as the President despite that he is old because he mobilised newcomer voters to vote for him.
“We have people who are student union leaders and youths, among others, we are catching newcomers. We are working assiduously to get many youths to our fold. These are the best type of people to give the right orientation on the type of political association they should keep or have. We are using the approach of technocracy to help them understand that politics is beyond just jamboree, politics is intellectual endeavour.”
Reacting, the Information Commissioner, Kolapo Alimi, described the claims by the group as mischievous, noting that Adeleke had constructed roads and other infrastructure across the state.
He said, “2026 is going to be a walkover for Senator Ademola Adeleke because he is paying all the salaries owed by APC government and completing abandoned projects.”
