The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reviewed its mission statement to align with global best practices and trends in road safety management.
The Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, announced this at the 4th Quarter Strategy Session of the FRSC High Command on Thursday in Abuja.
Mohammed said that the new mission statement, “To Create a Safe Motoring Environment Towards Achieving Zero Road Traffic Death” reflects the Corps’ commitment to reducing road traffic crashes and fatalities.
He emphasised that the reviewed mission statement would guide the Corps’ operations and strategies towards achieving its mandate.
The FRSC Corps Marshal said that the review was necessary to ensure that the FRSC remained relevant and effective in its role as a lead agency in road safety management in Nigeria.
“Management considered the need to review the FRSC Mission Statement to align with global trends and best practices.
” It was observed that Mission Statements are expected to be captured in mostly concise and single-paragraph sentences highlighting the intended accomplishments and embedded values.
“Accordingly, Management has approved the new FRSC Mission Statement: “To Create a Safe Motoring Environment Towards achieving Zero Road Traffic Death,” he said.
Mohammed acknowledged the effort of the corps at ensuring that ember months campaign flag offs had taken the form of Town-Hall meetings with government functionaries and critical stakeholders.
He called on commanding officers to encourage and utilise press conferences to provide a wider reach for the propagation of road safety across the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The FRSC boss also acknowledged the support of the Federal Government through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
He said that the FRSC had benefitted immensely from the positive supervisory support from the SGF, Sen. George Akume.
“We assure the government that we will not shirk in our responsibility to ensure safer highways in Nigeria,” he said
