Former senator representing, Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has shared his opinion about the rising tension at the Kano Emir’s palace.
The Discoverer Nigeria reports that tension started early Friday morning when police officers wearing advanced gear surrounded the Emir of Kano’s palace, starting as early as 6 a.m.
The move came after reports emerged that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi plans to appoint a district head for Bichi town.
In a post via X, Shehu Sani stated;
“In the interest of peace, there should be serious restraint in the application of force, might, and power over the Kano emirship tussle.”
“Back in May, former Emir Aminu Ado Bayero was dethroned by Governor Abba Yusuf while he was away and replaced with the reinstatement of the 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was quickly moved to the Kofar Kudu palace.
Bayero later returned to the state and settled at the Nassarawa mini palace, resulting in court cases both supporting and opposing the state government’s decision.”
