A Delta-born politician, Young Piero, has revealed that he is a subscriber to the confiscated estate in Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Piero’s statement comes amidst speculation that the over 700 duplexes in the estate were built by former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, who is currently facing trial for alleged corruption.
Piero said: “They will keep deceiving Nigerians. My carcass is inside the said estate that some of you are posting that it is own by one former CBN governor and I know some persons that own their properties there.”
In a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Piero declared that he knows many other subscribers in the estate, contrary to rumors that the properties were owned by Emefiele.
While querying the confiscation of the estate, he further said, “The President just bought a new plane without National Assembly approval and no one is talking about his action against democracy. The same administration where thieves fight themselves and citizens at the loosing end defend them.”
Piero’s revelation has thrown a new twist into the controversy surrounding the estate, which was confiscated by the EFCC as part of its investigation into alleged corruption.
The EFCC had alleged that the estate was built with proceeds of corruption, but Piero’s statement suggests that the properties may have been legitimately purchased by subscribers.
The development has raised questions about the ownership of the properties and the circumstances surrounding their confiscation by the EFCC.
As the controversy continues to unfold, Piero’s statement has provided a new perspective on the issue, highlighting the need for further investigation to determine the true ownership of the properties.
