The historical background of I.E Mu’azu memorial primary school, Adunu, Paikoro local government Niger State.
In an imperative to underscore the fact that prior to the year 1960, there was no formal school where education was disseminated with ease in the community known as Adunu.
The missionaries who settled at Adunu in the year 1958 were aided by the indigenous people of Barakwai who were together warmly received into the community by the settlers.
The need to propagate the gospel of our Lord was dire and so was the need to educate our people in a bid to have a wide spread, scope and understanding of the gospel and enlighten the ignorance of our people.
These factors altogether necessitated the establishment of the Primary Education in Adunu in the year 1962.
The then Pioneer of the Evangelical Church of West Africa (now Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA) MR. Gottfried Schalm and his dear wife Mrs. Krista Gottfried Schalm (both of the blessed memory) established the school and it was named S. I. M Primary School Adunu which for the first time began its operation in the Church with Mallam Bawa Dikko as its pioneer Headmaster who served from 1962-1967, while Mr. Bulus Baba Kuta succeeded him and served as headmaster from 1967-1971.
The locals contributed immensely to the building of the School’s first block of classrooms, whereas the women supplied water and food to the workers on site, the men were devoted in offering physical labour.
Further account posits that adult members of the Church committed to voluntary labour as part of their contribution to the development of the school building project in the early 1960s. It is worthy of note that the School right from it inception has continually maintained this very location as it first permanent site come rain come shine.
Few of the first set of pupils that enrolled in the school were:
* Dogonyaro Maikai alias
* Matthew Dogonyaro
* Sani Dangaladima
* Ruth Bawa

* Musa Yarima Dakalo
* Azumi Mallam
* Yusuf Waziri
* Yakubu Liman
* Maikasuwa Madaki
* Garba Kwarau
* Sabo Dakalo now late and the likes, from January 1962 to July 1969
Mr. Nuhu J. Tukura was a member of the 3rd set of the S.I.M Primary School Adunu who graduated in the year 1971 who also at some point served as an assistant Headmaster of the school.
The school continued to enjoy smooth operation and development as the locals became increasingly aware of the importance of knowledge, more pupils were enrolled.
This progress transcended the first decade of the School’s existence until the early 1970s when the State Government took over most of the missionary schools in the State including the S.I.M Primary School Adunu.
Later in life, the School was renamed from S.I.M Primary School to L.E.A Primary School Adunu with a wider coverage from Adunu and it environs down to as far as Katari in Kachia Local Government of Kaduna State being part of its catchment area.
The School continued to exist under the name of L.E.A Primary School Adunu until the year 1996/1997 Academy session. Seeing the rate of immense contribution imputed and maintained in the school by the Late. Major. Iliya Eshinimi Mu’azu, it was observed and suggested to the then Headmaster Mr. Joshua Kola Alafia Tayo, that the school’s name be supplanted by a new name to be known as Major I.E Mu’azu memorial primary school Adunu.
Consequently , a P.T.A meeting was then convened for this purpose with representation from both ends and the new name was announced and it stuck till this minute and beyond.
I.E Mu’azu memorial primary school Adunu is named after a compatriot, whose legacy has left a remarkable and indelible imprint in our hearts, a legacy that will continue to thrive and bloom beyond our imagination.
The school has been in continuous existence since the year 1962, 62 years since the establishment of this great academic outfit which had begotten a cluster of great men and great to be.
