Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has taken a swipe at ex-Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, following the latter’s arraignment in court over allegations of fraud.
Melaye, a long-time political rival of Bello, shared a video of the former governor in court on his social media handle with the caption: “Ex White Lion Docked!”—a direct jab at Bello, who was often referred to as the “White Lion” by his supporters during his administration.

The rivalry between Melaye and Bello has been a defining feature of Kogi State’s political landscape, marked by frequent clashes and public criticisms. Bello was arraigned at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama on Wednesday, where he pleaded not guilty to a 16-count charge of fraud involving ₦110 billion. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleges that Bello and his co-defendants misappropriated state funds to acquire high-value properties and make questionable financial transfers.
