A soldier who is simply identified as Gideon has killed a villager, Joseph Jelmang in Marish community of Bokko local government area of Plateau State.
He reportedly killed the villager while shooting gun in celebration of his birthday.
The Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), in a statement by its chairman, Barr. Farmasum Fuddang, has condemned the incident.
While revealing that the soldier was allegedly druck while he fired random shots during the celebration of his birthday at a relaxation centre.
The body said: “We strongly condemned the perpetrators’ desperate attempt to conceal the crime by falsely labeling the innocent passerby and residents who tried to save his life by transporting him to the hospital as militants.
“We demand the swift and decisive action of the military authorities and the Attorney General in apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrator to the fullest extent of the law.”
BCDC also demanded the immediate release of all those arrested by soldiers in Marish on April 22 and previously.
Spokesman of Operation Save Haven(OPSH) in Jos, Major Samson Khazom, didn’t respond to calls and enquiries when contacted.
