The Federal Government has instructed civil servants enrolled in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) to transfer their salary accounts from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) to another commercial bank due to ongoing network issues causing payment delays.
This directive, issued by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, comes after repeated complaints about GTBank’s service disruptions impacting salary disbursements. Civil servants are advised to make the necessary adjustments within two weeks to avoid further payment interruptions.
The official memo states: “This directive is necessitated by GTBank’s persistent poor service network, which has adversely affected users.”
Memo Details and Required Actions
The notice, directed to all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), highlights the following concerns:
Recurring payment delays
Poor customer support responsiveness
Technical issues affecting salary disbursement
To ensure timely salary payments, affected civil servants are required to:
1. Open a new salary account with an alternative commercial bank.
2. Update their account details on the IPPIS platform.
3. Notify IPPIS and their respective payroll departments of the change.
The deadline for updating salary accounts is set for November 15, 2024, with a warning that failure to comply could result in further salary delays.
For additional assistance, the IPPIS Support Centre is available to guide civil servants through the process.
