Ahead of Ondo gubernatorial election, over 100 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a strategic meeting held in Ward 1, Afo, Ose Local Government.
Afo is the hometown of Hon. Kevin Solomon Olaolu, the Senior Special Assistant on Students Affairs to the Ondo State Governor.
The defection event, hosted at Hon. KSO’s residence, is seen as a testament to the effectiveness of his political engagement and grassroots mobilization efforts in promoting the APC’s vision and the reelection bid of His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
The defection is noteworthy as it reflects a growing shift in allegiance within the community, attributed primarily to Hon. KSO’s work in championing the ideals and development agenda of the APC.
His sustained involvement in youth and student affairs across the state has helped bridge the party’s reach to the grassroots, particularly in Afo Ward 1, where his leadership has inspired confidence and trust among locals. The defection of over 100 PDP members signals a considerable boost for the APC, positioning the party as the frontrunner in the forthcoming gubernatorial race in the ward. Many of the decampees cited Hon. One of the decampee, highlighted the positive impact of Hon. KSO’s leadership. “For years, I have been with the PDP, but Hon. KSO’s approach and commitment to the people have convinced me of the APC’s potential to deliver on its promises. His focus on youth empowerment and local development has been inspiring, and I believe the APC under Governor Aiyedatiwa will bring the changes our community truly needs”.
