A video currently trending on social media shows a heated altercation between Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and a group of estate developers in the Lugbe area of Abuja.
The confrontation, which quickly gained traction online, portrays the minister losing his temper and nearly getting physical with one of the developers.
In the video, Wike is seen accusing the developers of illegally grabbing land and resisting the government’s Demolition Squad, which had been deployed to the area. When the developers attempted to present their side of the story, Wike repeatedly interrupted them, telling them to “shut up.” Despite their insistence that their properties were duly registered and recognized, Wike refused to hear their explanations.
Visibly frustrated, the FCT Minister angrily walked towards his luxury SUV, asserting that the developers were “disobedient” and unworthy of his time. He emphasized that he was merely doing them a favor by even engaging in a conversation. As Wike made his way to his car, one of the developers tried to appeal to him, but this action prompted Wike to abruptly turn back and approach the man aggressively. The situation escalated, and the minister’s bodyguards had to intervene subtly to protect the developer from what seemed to be an imminent physical confrontation.

Following the altercation, Wike reportedly approved the demolition of most of the properties in the area.
The video quickly gained traction, drawing a flurry of reactions from netizens. Many criticized Wike’s confrontational approach, with some describing it as arrogant and unbecoming of a public official.
Several commenters urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rein in the FCT Minister, emphasizing that such behavior could tarnish the administration’s image, while many Nigerians expressing concern over Wike’s temperament.
Some critics are linking Wike’s aggressive behavior to political disappointments, particularly following recent comments by Dino Melaye. The PDP chieftain alleged that Wike’s frustrations stem from losing the party’s presidential ticket and his failed bid to secure the vice-presidential position under Atiku Abubakar.
Netizens are now raising questions about Wike’s temperament and leadership style, speculating how he would have handled power had he secured the VP position. The trending video continues to fuel discussions on his approach to governance and interactions with citizens.
