Former governor of Zamfara state, Senator Abdul-Azeez Yari and a renowned business man, Prince Arthur Eze, have bagged global award for their leadership and economic growth across African continent.
The honour was bestowed on them at the sideline of the recently concluded high-profile summit on Economic, Trade, Investment and Cultural Exchange, held at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) 2024.
While the former governor Yari bagged the Global Man of the Year Award for his impactful leadership, Prince Arthur Eze, was honour for his dedication to fostering economic growth across Africa.
However, the Newday International, in collaboration with the United Nations Commutech group, US African Eye, and the Nigerian Progressive Professionals in the Diaspora and All Progressives Congress APC USA/Committee of Diaspora Chairmen (CDC) have expressed delight at the successful conclusion of the global event.
According to a statement signed by the convener of the sideline Trade, Investment and Cultural event, Prof. Tai Balofin, President/CEO of Newday International, and Andy Lin of the United Nations Commutech, key global stakeholders, policymakers and investors from Nigeria, China, the U.S., and beyond were on ground to discurs global economic challenges and to form synergies towards addressing them, using the summit as a platform.
The convener stated that relationships formed and discussions initiated at the summit will pave the way for transformational projects that will benefit not only Nigeria and Africa but also the global community.
They added: “This summit has not only strengthened relationships between nations but has opened new avenues for mutual economic growth and global collaboration.”
“The summit focused on critical sectors including Oil and Gas, Aviation, Energy, Rail Transportation, Waterways, Power, Maritime, and Agriculture, with a particular emphasis on sustainable development and cross-border partnerships.”-Balofin stated
The summit’s discussions covered a broad range of topics, with major focus on Nigeria’s growing economy and the immense potential it holds for global investors, while highlighting the Nigerian government’s efforts under President Bola Tinubu to create an investor-friendly environment including infrastructure investments and progressive policies aimed at ensuring economic stability and long-term growth.
In his keynote address at the summit, the APC National Secretary
Senator Ajibola Basiru emphasized the importance of forging strong international partnerships for Africa’s economic transformation.
The Consul-General of Nigeria in New York, Ambassador Abubakar Jidda and others further urged the participants to view Nigeria as a gateway to Africa’s future, pointing out the country’s youthful population, abundant natural resources, and strategic location.
The summit also witnessed a compelling presentation by Dr.Fauziya Buhari-Ado, Special Assistant to the Governor of Kaduna State on School Feeding, who called on global investors to explore Kaduna State’s rich agricultural and mineral resources.
She further highlighted that the School Feeding Initiative has positively impacted the lives of children in rural areas while driving local economic growth through sustainable farming practices.
The summit which took place at World Plaza, Whitestone, New York, attracted notable dignitaries including government officials, business leaders, and global investors who came together to explore economic, trade and investment opportunities across Africa, the U.S., and China.
It was further enriched by cultural performances celebrating the diversity of China, Africa, and America, creating a vibrant atmosphere that underscored the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening economic ties.
Those who graced the landmark sideline event include Sheikh Bala Lau and his team, Osun State First Lady, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke amongst others
