Chief Tony Okocha, the caretaker committee chairman of the APC in Rivers State, confirmed the incident, alleging that supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara were behind the attack.
Okocha took to social media, writing: “In the early hours of Saturday, pro-Fubara civilian soldiers detonated dynamites at our office. The second attempt to set it ablaze was foiled as the security team on-site quickly extinguished the fire.”
The attack has heightened tension ahead of the local government elections, as political violence and security concerns continue to loom over the process. Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, and investigations are expected to follow.
