Renowned human rights activist and rapper, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has found himself at the center of a legal battle.
His legal team, led by Falana & Falana’s Chambers, has issued a strong demand for a retraction of alleged defamatory statements made against him by social media figure, VeryDarkMan.
In a letter dated September 26, 2024, addressed to Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan), Falz’s legal representatives condemned statements implicating Falz in the ongoing saga involving Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky). The letter refutes any involvement, clarifying that Falz never initiated or conspired with Bobrisky on any legal matter or attempted to secure a presidential pardon.
The letter reveals that Bobrisky sought legal advice from Falz on May 4, 2024, after facing charges related to currency abuse. However, instead of discussing strategies, Bobrisky asked for financial assistance to pay bribes to Nigerian Correctional Service officials. Falz’s lawyers stated that their client advised Bobrisky against corrupt practices and consistently rejected his requests for financial aid.
Falz’s legal team expressed dismay at VeryDarkMan’s decision to publish “reckless and defamatory” content, accusing Falz of corrupt practices and undermining the justice system for financial gain. They emphasized that such allegations damage Falz’s reputation and misrepresent his record as a social justice advocate.
The letter demands a full retraction and public apology from VeryDarkMan within 24 hours. Failure to comply would result in legal action, including seeking damages for harm caused.

This is another development surrounding Bobrisky, who faces scrutiny following accusations of paying N15 million in bribes to evade a jail sentence. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has reportedly launched an investigation.
As the situation unfolds, attention remains on Falz and Bobrisky, with many eager to see how the legal proceedings and EFCC investigation will play out.
