Bovas, a respected player in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector, swiftly distanced itself from the manager’s actions, stating that it does not condone any behavior that deviates from its standards of ethics and professionalism.
In a detailed statement, Bovas declared: “We are deeply committed to fostering an environment where both our customers and employees are treated with respect, fairness, and dignity. The incident involving one of our station managers is in direct conflict with our company’s core values.”
The company was unequivocal in condemning the manager’s actions, reiterating that it prides itself on maintaining high standards of integrity. “This action is wholly inappropriate and unauthorized. Bovas and Company Limited categorically condemns this act and dissociates itself from any behavior that contradicts our core values of integrity, transparency, honesty, and professionalism,” the statement continued.
In response to the incident, Bovas immediately suspended the manager and launched an internal investigation to get to the bottom of the matter. The company reassured the public that any violations of its policies would result in serious disciplinary actions, in line with corporate standards and legal requirements.
“Our station attendants and managers are regularly trained on the importance of integrity and due process,” Bovas noted, underscoring that this incident is an outlier. “We value the trust our customers place in us and will continue to uphold the standards that have defined our brand in the oil and gas sector.”
Bovas wrapped up its statement by reaffirming its dedication to the well-being of both employees and customers. The company emphasized that it would not tolerate any actions that compromise its commitment to ethical conduct, thanking the public for their continued trust and understanding.
