The Nollywood industry has been struck by yet another loss as Nollywood actor, Big Larry, has sadly passed on.
The news of his death was shared on Friday through an Instagram post by Stanley Nwoke, who confirmed the actor’s demise.
In his post, Nwoke expressed his grief, stating, “Breaking News: Nollywood actor Big Larry has passed away. Rest in peace, Big Larry .”
He also mentioned that the exact cause of the actor’s death remains unclear at this time.
“Details surrounding his passing are still unknown. May your soul rest in peace, Big Larry . The Nollywood community in Asaba mourns deeply . Shalom!” he added.
While much of the actor’s personal life and career remain private, Big Larry’s contributions to Nollywood have left a lasting impression.
The year 2024 has been particularly tragic for Nollywood, with the industry losing several of its stars, including well-known figures like Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Junior Pope, Sisi Quadri, and Ganiyu ‘Ogunjimi’ Oyeyemi.
Other industry veterans who have passed away this year include Olofa Ina, Adejumoke Aderounmu, Saratu Gidado, Reginald Ebere, Ethel Ekpe, and Onyeka Onwenu.
In response to the alarming number of deaths, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) initiated a four-day fasting and prayer event in May, led by Pastor Jerry Eze, founder of Streams of Joy International. The spiritual session, aimed at addressing the growing losses within Nollywood, took place from May 2 to 5 at the M & M Centre in Garki, Abuja.
AGN President Emeka Rollas emphasized the urgency of the prayers, noting that the industry “cannot continue to lose actors like this.” He called on Nollywood stars and their fans to come together in prayer to put an end to the tragic trend.
