Ibraheem Abdulhameed Labaeka, an Islamic singer and Special Assistant on Artiste Matters to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has tendered his resignation.
Labaeka’s decision stems from his inability to contribute meaningfully to the role, citing a lack of clear duties and responsibilities.
In his resignation letter dated September 13, 2024, Labaeka expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve but acknowledged that he had not achieved his goals during his one-year and seven-month tenure. Despite his initial enthusiasm, Labaeka found himself without a specific schedule of duties, hindering his ability to perform effectively.
Labaeka’s resignation is notable for his honest reflection on the lack of productivity in his role. He expressed discomfort with receiving a salary for unfulfilled duties, citing his Islamic beliefs and personal values. He requested that his salary be stopped immediately, stating, “I cannot continue to break that trust by taking a salary for doing nothing.”
