Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah paid a visit to viral highlife sensation Mike Ejeagha, announcing that the state will take full responsibility for his upkeep going forward.
This gesture of goodwill was accompanied by the renaming of Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike Enugu to Mike Ejeagha Road, a newly constructed and restored road leading to his residence.
Gentleman Mike, as he’s fondly called, expressed his gratitude, stating that Governor Mbah is the first government official to honor him, unlike others who made promises but failed to deliver. He recounted how the governor’s team arrived unannounced, began working on the road, and returned to commission it without fanfare.

Mike Ejeagha’s rise to fame began in July when his song went viral after being featured in a dance skit by BrainJotter, garnering over 10 million views. The proceeds from the video were donated to him, and he has since received numerous honors and gifts. Afripol is now advocating for him to receive a Nobel Prize in Literature.
While many celebrate Gentleman Mike’s belated success, some have expressed reservations about the timing, suggesting that it may be a case of too little, too late.
