Hajiya Dada, the esteemed mother of Nigeria’s late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, has passed away.
She died on Monday evening in Katsina, leaving behind a remarkable legacy intertwined with the nation’s political history.
Hajiya Dada was not only a matriarch of the Yar’adua family but also a figure of historical significance. She holds the unique distinction of being the only woman in Nigeria to have given birth to a President, Umaru Musa Yar’adua; a Vice President, Shehu Musa Yar’adua; a Minister; and a Governor.
Her influence extended even further, as three of her granddaughters have served as First Ladies, married to former Governors of Katsina, Bauchi, and Kebbi States.
Hajiya Dada’s passing marks the end of an era, as she was a key figure in a family that has played a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape. Her legacy will be remembered through the numerous contributions her children and grandchildren have made to the country.
