Following the appointment of Dr. Badamas Lawal Charanchi as Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programs Agency by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has directed the Commissioner of Finance to temporarily oversee the affairs of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs.
Dr. Charanchi, a former Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs in Katsina State, will be assuming his new role at the national level. To ensure continuity of services and effective governance at the stateq level, Governor Radda has entrusted the Commissioner of Finance with the responsibility of managing the Ministry of Local Government Affairs until a permanent replacement is appointed.
Governor Radda, gave the directive while spearheading the 8th Regular Council Meeting held on Wednesday, August 28th. During the meeting, the Council approved several key initiatives aimed at improving governance, economic development, and public services.
One of the significant decisions was the approval of the Katsina State Business Enabling Reform Action Plan (SABER). The plan is designed to create a more conducive business environment in the state, attracting investors and fostering economic growth. By streamlining regulations and improving infrastructure, SABER aims to enhance the ease of doing business in Katsina.
The Council also approved the procurement of water treatment chemicals amounting to Three Hundred and Sixty Five Million, three hundred thousand Naira for the state’s various water treatment plants. This investment will ensure the continued supply of clean and safe drinking water to residents, addressing a critical public health need.
Similaly, the council also approved the installation of street lights from Darma rice mill on Katsina -Dutsinma road to Alqalam university katsina.
This is part of effort to improve security on the route.
The Council also extended its condolences to the Commissioner of Environment, Alhaji Hamza Suleiman Faskari, on the recent loss of his mother. They offered prayers for the deceased and expressed their support for the Commissioner during this difficult time.
