Spanish forward Álvaro Morata has revealed that his recent move to AC Milan contributed to the end of his marriage with his estranged wife, Alice Campello.
The 31-year-old completed a €13m move to Milan a month ago, just days after winning Euro 2024 with Spain, signing a four-year deal at San Siro.

The couple, who got married in Venice in 2017, announced their separation on August 12 in an Instagram post.
Morata, known for his stints with Chelsea, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Atlético Madrid, stated that his estranged wife preferred to stay in Spain and was not willing to relocate.
He also addressed rumors of infidelity, insisting that he was faithful throughout their seven years together. “I am devastated, but I swear I never cheated on her. She’s the most important woman in my life. I am tired of people saying I was unfaithful to Alice. I didn’t even attend the national team party to avoid such rumors. Since then, I have avoided speaking publicly out of respect for her and to prevent further speculation,” he told De Corazón.
Morata added, “Alice wanted to remain in Spain and wasn’t willing to move again. Despite our differing views, we maintain a strong relationship for the sake of our four children. There are no regrets.”
In an interview with Spanish outlet Marca, Campello cited post-partum depression following the birth of their fourth child and the instability of relocating frequently as factors in their split. “We are two young people, we have both been immature when it comes to managing certain situations, there are many children, moments of instability of being from one country to the other. My post-partum depression has had an influence and his, too, which has not allowed us to manage certain situations between us,” she explained.
Campello also dismissed claims of infidelity on Morata’s part.
“We love each other infinitely, love does not end from one day to the next, we respect each other a lot and nothing will change. It is what we both needed now, however, I know that Alvaro would kill for me,” she added.
The couple’s children include three sons—twins Alessandro and Leonardo (born 2018), Edoardo (born 2020)—and a daughter, Bella (born 2023).
