The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner in elections into all the 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi state.
It is a practice in Nigeria that the ruling political party in any state wins all the local government and PDP is not different.
Chairman of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), Alhaji Ahmed Makama, while announcing the results, said: “For the chairmanship election, PDP won all the 20 seats as declared at the local government levels.
The state governor Bala Mohammed, has however sworn in the newly elected chairmen, urging them to work towards the delivery of social amenities at the grassroots.
He reminded them that their election is a call to serve their people, hence the need to justify the confidence reposed in them for the benefit of their people.
The Governor expressed satisfaction that the election was conducted peacefully across the 20 Local Government Councils and tasked then to provide the needed leadership that is required for better service delivery.
Bala called on the chairmen to work with relevant stakeholders including their management in order to achieve the desired objectives and promised to support them to deliver effectively.
Responding on behalf of the sworn in chairmen, the chairman of Bauchi local government, Mahmoud Babamaji pledged to live up to expectations and to emulate Governor Bala in the implementation of people’s oriented policies and programmes.
