Following the recent disappointment faced by National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, Senator Shehu Sani has appealed to the Federal Government to implement the proposed N70,000 allowance increment.
The NYSC had earlier debunked reports of a salary increase, clarifying that no directive had been received from relevant authorities. This announcement came after corps members were initially thrilled by President Bola Tinubu’s minimum wage hike to N70,000, expecting a similar adjustment.
Senator Sani, responding to the situation, humorously suggested that the government should transform the “fake news” into reality, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on the youth.
“The Youth Corpers celebrated the N70,000 increment, only to be told it’s fake news. The FG should turn this fake into reality; this fake is a good fake,” Sani wrote on his social media handle.

His statement is in line with the aspirations of NYSC members, reigniting hopes for a possible allowance increase. The Federal Government’s response to Senator Sani’s appeal remains awaited.
