The Nigerian Police have arrested Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the 2024 African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for Ondo State, along with Patrick Owolabi, a prominent member of the Take It Back (TIB) Movement.
The arrests took place in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, during the grand finale of the nationwide #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, a demonstration organized to speak out against hunger, hardship, and poor governance in the country.
The TIB Movement has strongly condemned the police’s actions, calling for the immediate and unconditional release of both Ajayi and Owolabi. In a statement posted on Twitter, the movement expressed its frustration, saying:
“It’s unfortunate that the @PoliceNG is yet to learn. The continued clampdown on peaceful #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters is a total shame. We condemn the unlawful arrest of Ajayi Wizeman & Patrick Owolabi in Ondo State and we demand their immediate and unconditional release!”
