Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has promised to rebuild all the looted and razed Katagum Local Government Secretariat, Azare, home of the immediate past deputy governor, Baba Tela and the government lodge vandalised during the hunger protest.
Nigeria witnessed a violent hunger protest tagged #EndbadgovernceinNigeria which led to destruction of some property across the country.
Governor Bala made the promise m Thursday when he visited Azare, headquarters of Katagum local government area of the state to assess the level of damage caused by the hoodlums who hijacked the #EndBadGovernance projects in the area.
He said that half of the secretariat was set ablaze while other parts were looted including the Information and Communication Technology department where salary is being processed.
Governor Bala said that the state government would go to drawing board to redesign the facility which is the seat of administration and the second biggest council in the state and pledged to declare a state of emergency in rebuilding the council secretariat.
He also pledged to support the ex-deputy governor, Baba Tela and another Islamiya school that was vandalised and enjoined the perpetrators of the incident to heed the warning of the government, saying they hurt the people and themselves and not the government.
The governor who visited the Emir of Katagum, Alh Umar Farouq II, expressed concerns about government’s failure to cater for the need of the youths, saying the government has heeded the warning of teeming youths.
