In a new development, the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs has withdrawn its internal circular regarding the sale of subsidized rice to public servants.
The announcement was made via an internal memo dated August 2, 2024, signed by Aderonke A. Jaiyesimi, Director of Human Resource Management, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary.
The initial circular, issued on August 1, 2024, outlined plans to sell a 50kg bag of rice at a subsidized rate of N40,000 to public servants.
This initiative was intended to mitigate the impact of the ongoing food crisis in the country.
However, the ministry has now retracted this directive, with Jaiyesimi stating that the internal circular has been officially withdrawn and further details will be communicated in due course.
