The following are my thoughts and well researched opinions of what Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu should do;
1. Cancel all social intervention funds (Students loans, small scale business loans, etc). It doesn’t gets to your target beneficiaries as planned. Your predecessor President Muhammad Buhari did all that and unfortunately the impact was almost not felt at all. At a point in time, government was paying up to N1b daily on school feeding program and unfortunately I never see any school children fed in my Local Government.
Therefore divert the money to pay for fuel subsidy that everyone will benefit from.
2. Completely stop the Compress Natural Gas (CNG) project. Let the private sectors that is interested in the project take over because it will equally not get to your targeted beneficiaries. Divert the money to pay for fuel subsidy.
3. Increase your crude oil production so that we can get enough to fill our quota in the international market crude oil sales, enough to settle our crude oil swap agreement loans, and enough to supply our local refineries.
4. Discount your crude oil sales to the local refineries so that they too can as well discount for us in the sales of their finished products. By this, I think the government will only pay very little in fuel subsidy at long run.
5. Give more license to those that are interested in building refineries in order to open more doors for competitive market.
6. People that doesn’t have refinery in Nigeria were given oil well, why not give preference to those that have?
7. Reduce your cost of governance by means you know best and spend that excess on paying for fuel subsidy.
8. Stop all excess monies/palliatives you are giving our Govs to give us. We don’t see 5% of them. Divert the money to pay for fuel subsidy that will benefit everyone.
9. Have a very comprehensive means of monitoring what you are paying (subsidy) for and also a means of securing our borders to ensure what we pay for are not enjoyed by people in our neighboring countries.
10. Fight the bandits dirty to ensure that our lands are free for our farmers to farm.
11. Change your ill-performing cabinet members. You shouldn’t thnk you own them more than you own the Nigerians.
12. I can guarantee you of your securing Nigerians votes in 2027 election if you do all these.
These are what I think will satisfy Nigerians for now. They will leave the street as soon as you reduce the fuel pump price to about N300/liter.
Fuel subsidy is the engine room of our national economic growth. Tested and trusted now
