The Bangladesh’s key police association on Tuesday said its members were going on strike.
This is coming a day after the protests they had sought to crush with deadly force toppled the prime minister.
“Until the security of every member of the police is secured, we are declaring a strike,” the Bangladesh Police Association said in a statement, which represents thousands of senior police officers.
Recall that the Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, has unveiled plans to establish an inclusive interim government, following the exit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Following consultations with all major political parties, a consensus has been reached to form a transitional government.
