Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has given his approval for the appointment of new emirs to the Gaya, Karaye, and Rano Emirates.
In a statement released to the press in Kano on Wednesday, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Director General of Media and Publicity for the governor, revealed the information, making it available to journalists.
This development comes hot on the heels of Governor Yusuf’s signing of the bill to establish second-class emirates in Kano State, which was enacted into law less than 24 hours.
The newly appointed emirs include the deposed emir of Gaya, Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, who was reinstated as emir of Gaya.
Muhammad Maharaz Karaye was appointed as the Emir of Karaye, and Muhammad Isa Umar as the Emir of Rano.
Karaye, until his appointment, was the District Head of Rogo, while Umar was the district head of Bunkure.
In a message of congratulations to the newly appointed emirs, Governor Yusuf charged them to serve as guardians of the people’s traditions, harmony, and unity in their respective Emirates, urging them to embrace their new roles with dedication and wisdom.
The statement indicated that the appointments take effect immediately.
