The Police Service Commission (PSC) has refuted allegations that it is reassessing the list of candidates who passed the 2022 constable recruitment exercise.
The PSC further clarified that it did not instruct successful candidates to print new invitation slips or report to the Police Training Colleges.
The Commission’s latest denial is its second stance clarification on this issue, as the commission continues to grapple with the Nigeria Police Force over the controversial constable recruitment exercise.
The row between the two bodies began 11 days after the PSC on June 4 released the list of 10,000 successful applicants for constable and specialist cadre roles in the Nigeria Police Force.
The police had rejected the list, alleging that the recruitment exercise was marred by corruption and irregularities.
The commission, however, promised not to cancel the list, prompting the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, to step into the matter.
The matter has yet to be resolved.
In a statement on Tuesday, Ikechukwu Ani, the Head, of Press and Public Relations, urged successful candidates to be patient and await its official statement on the just concluded recruitment exercise.
Ani said, “The commission wishes to clarify that it has at no time issued any statement on (i) review of the list of successful candidates or (ii) inviting successful candidates to check their application on the newly launched portal.
“The commission has not at any time advised candidates to print any updated invitation slip and proceed to the Police Training Colleges. It has also not announced any date for the training programme, and the Monday, July 22nd 2024, date, bandied in social media, is just the imagination of the impostors.
“The commission wishes to advise candidates to be patient and await its official statement on the just concluded recruitment exercise.”
Ani cautioned the purveyors of the fake reports to desist as they would be made to face the wrath of the law when arrested.
He said, “The PSC also warns these unrelenting impostors to steer clear of its activities, especially the recruitment exercise, and warns that anybody caught undermining the exercise will be dealt with in accordance with the law.”
