A Kentucky man has been arrested for allegedly robbing two banks in a single day, making off with nearly $8,000 while wielding a toy gun, police reports.
According to a statement released by the Paris Police Department on Facebook, Cheikh Gueye, a 35-year-old man, has been charged with robbery and resisting arrest for allegedly targeting two banks in Paris on Wednesday.
Gueye is also a suspect in an attempted robbery at a third bank in Georgetown earlier that day, police said.
Bank tellers reported to police that the suspect handed them a note threatening violence and demanding they surrender cash, implying that he would harm everyone in the bank if his demands were not met.
While law enforcement was actively searching for the suspect, a second bank robbery was reported.
Gueye was captured at a nearby grocery store where police determined the weapon he was carrying was fake. He told detectives “it was just a game,” WKYT reported.
