The management of Kwara State University, Malete, announced that the online portal of a male student has been disabled due to his alleged involvement in a skit that included inappropriate contact with females.
Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, the Acting Director of University Relations, confirmed on Wednesday that the university has disabled the student’s portal as an initial punitive measure, pending the completion of an investigation by the Student Disciplinary Committee.
Dr. Aliyu further emphasized that the controversial skits do not align with the university’s values and principles, and are not representative of the ethical standards and conduct exhibited by the majority of KWASU students.
She added that the skits do not reflect the values of the institution or the ethical orientation of the majority of KWASU students.
“KWASU is an institution that prides itself on producing the total graduate, both in character and in learning, and has zero tolerance for any form of indiscipline.”
Dr. Aliyu revealed that Professor Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, the Vice-Chancellor, directed the disabling of the student’s portal as an initial disciplinary measure, pending the conclusion of an investigation by the Student Disciplinary Committee.
“We wish to reiterate that KWASU holds in high esteem the values of decency that all religions promote and will not condone any act that can jeopardise this value,” she said.
