The Ogun State Police Command announced on Wednesday that the four travellers who were abducted on Sunday along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway have been rescued and are now free.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, SP Omolola Odutola, the police command’s spokesperson, confirmed the details.
Odutola revealed that the anti-kidnapping team rescued a total of four persons, comprising one Nigerian, Mr Ola, and three Indian citizens, along the Ogere stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
She said, “One Mr Ola, Pujan, and two other Indians names yet unknown have regained their freedom along Ogere inward Lagos Ibadan expressway. Efforts ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects”
Abiodun Alamutu, the Commissioner of Police, on Monday had directed the anti-kidnapping unit to launch a manhunt against the hoodlums who attacked and kidnapped the travellers.
The travellers were ambushed by gunmen in an area between the Sagamu Police Area Command and Ilisan township.
According to Wemmy Osude, Chairman of the Ilisan Development Council, the hoodlums also abducted additional victims and took them into the nearby bush.
