The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned motorists to desist from harassing its personnel in the course of discharging their duties across the country.
The FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed gave the warning while reacting to a judgment by a Magistrates’ Court which sentenced a driver to three years imprisonment for assaulting patrol operatives in Ibadan.
In a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide on Tuesday in Abuja, Mohammed said that the judgment was in line with the policy thrust of the corps which included zero tolerance to assault on operatives.
He expressed satisfaction with the judgment and applauded the Judiciary for the speedy dispensation of justice.
He also reiterated the corps commitment to synergise with the Judiciary in expediting the prosecution of recalcitrant offenders especially those that assault officers and men on the road.
”This feat will serve as deterrent to other hostile road users, the public and especially drivers who have formed the habit of assaulting FRSC operatives to desist henceforth or face the wrath of the law as no one will be spared any longer”, he said
