The fact remains that not everyone was wired for business. And not every economy is conducive for business. Inability to pay for your basic necessities can be very dehumanizing.
Please remember lack of a job is a temporal situation. It doesn’t define you or your level skills, talents and intelligence. So, don’t try to cope through alcoholism, substance abuse or casual sex.
Bad addictions can ruin you for life. And don’t run away from the cities because life is expensive there. If you can, look for a friend who can host you in town as you hunt for a job.
Tailor-make your resume for a particular job. Good jobs are competitive. Generic resumes are often thrown away. Let your resume demonstrate the value you’ll add in that particular position.
And apply for hundreds of jobs – yes, hundreds. A lot of job-seekers expect miracles after ten applications. Increase your odds for an interview by applying for jobs aggressively.
And if an organization has an opportunity for interns or volunteers, offer yourself for service – and prove yourself. Go the extra mile in your work. Let your work speak for you. I wish you the very best!
