The presidency has ruled out possibility of losing 2027 presidential election now unlike the recent experience in Ghana where the ruling party lost to opposition.
The seat of power also confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will contest a second term in office in 2027 general elections.
Speaking with newsmen at the national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Wednesday, when he visited, Special Special Adviser Public Communication and Media, Daniel Bwala, said the President currently focus on governance but eminently qualified to run for a second term in office.
According to Bwala, “Mr. President agenda, which is working well is what will naturally endear Nigerians to vote him for the second term and Mr. President is more than eminently qualified constitutionally to contest for the second term in office, and God willing, if God gives Mr. President life and health, we do hope that Mr. President will run his coure as provided by the constitution.”
Bwala, when asked, was reacting to comments made by spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar and other northern group regarding the plea by the Secretary to the Government of Federation (SGF), George Akume on why the North should wait till 2031 before contesting for Presidential seat.
The presidential spokesman said: “Well, for now Mr. President is focus on governance, delivering on the mandate and the promises to Nigerians people and he has refused to be distracted by political talk ahead of 2027.
“He is very focus on issues that bothers on the Nigerian people, to make sure that people come out of hunger, to make sure that agriculture brings about the expected revolution, to make sure that our people are able to deal with their everyday problem.
“So the time for politicking is not yet ripe and when that time come we are going to be ready for everyone.”
When asked whether the presidency is jittery over the recent outcome of election in Ghana, Bwala said: “Gven compartive analysis, that is not to say I am blaming the government of Ghana, but there are divergent applications of government policy.
“If you have been following events in Ghana, you see that over the last one year and if you follow the indices, you find out that it is not same thing that is happening in the two countries. What Mr. President is doing in redirecting the economy in the right path, Mr President is very confident.
“The idea of the ruling party loosing the election, that will not happen, because Nigerian people are seeing what the administration is doing. Nigerian people only care about what they are confronted with every day. They don’t actually care whether you are white or black skin or whatever, as long as what matters to them on their dinner table is dealt with, Nigerian people will always stay with you and that is what Mr President is doing. That is why Mr President is receiving commendation from every part of the country.”
